What premium advertising costs in the Gulf in 2026
Premium advertising in the Gulf runs from about USD 10,000 for a magazine page to a reported AED 2.5 million for a month on a Sheikh Zayed Road digital landmark. The harder finding is that most of those prices are not published: magazines issue rate cards, billboard owners and event organisers do not, and most Gulf sponsorship is announced with the term disclosed and the value withheld. The gap in source quality between channels is wider than the gap in price.
What does a page in print cost?
Forbes Middle East's 2026 media kit prices an inside full page at USD 15,000 at the open rate, falling to USD 11,250 per insertion across twelve. Covers carry a premium: USD 27,500 inside front or back, USD 30,000 outside back, USD 43,750 for a front cover gatefold. Those rates sell against a declared rate base of 20,000 copies an issue — the publisher's own commitment, not an audited circulation, and the kit names no audit bureau. Inc. Arabia's 2025 kit puts a full page at USD 10,000 for one insertion against a stated print run of 10,000.
Two editions of that kit survive, allowing one comparison: the base full-page rate rose about 19 per cent between 2020 and 2026, from USD 12,600 to USD 15,000, while the copies it is sold against fell from 50,000 to 20,000 — a 60 per cent drop.
Newspapers are less forthcoming. Khaleej Times' 2026 kit states over 80,000 copies and 3.2 readers an issue, with no rates in it; Gulf News's advertising site currently publishes none, and its most recent audited circulation traceable is 107,778 qualified copies, from June 2015. What remains is a Dubai reseller quoting a full page at AED 15,000 to over AED 50,000 — a range, not a rate.
What does a Sheikh Zayed Road billboard cost?
It depends who is answering, and the spread is the finding. Arabian Gulf Business Insight reported in January 2025 that static billboards there can cost between AED 700,000 — about USD 190,000 — and AED 1 million a month, and that BackLite Media's “Triple Crown” could fetch AED 1.8 million to AED 2.5 million. That second figure is a journalist's estimate of what an asset could command, not a transacted price, on a page belonging to the asset's owner.
One media-buying platform's guide quotes Sheikh Zayed Road digital positions at AED 85,000 to AED 180,000 a month near Downtown and Business Bay — an intermediary's estimate, naming no media owner and stating no minimum booking.
No UAE media owner publishes a rate card; BackLite, Hypermedia, Elevision and the Viola and W Group properties name their assets publicly and attach no prices. At sector level the numbers are public and large: the Government of Dubai Media Office announced that Mada Media, established by Law No. 20 of 2024 to operate Dubai's advertising sites, signed contracts worth AED 971.3 million in the first quarter of 2026 alone. Revenue is public by the billion-dirham quarter and private by the single face.
What does an event stand or a sponsorship cost?
Floor space is findable only sideways. Organisers route enquiries to a form; what exists in public are participation fees national trade bodies publish for their own pavilions — member rates that often carry a subsidy rather than a list price.
Read that way they give a floor: a 9-square-metre in-line booth in the SUSTA pavilion at Gulfood 2026 was priced at USD 11,680, and Gulfood's organiser levies a compulsory AED 3,800 per exhibitor on top of space and build.
Sponsorship tiers are another matter. No organiser of GITEX, Arab Health, Gulfood or Big 5 publishes headline prices, and the same opacity runs through Gulf sport: Aramco's four-year FIFA partnership discloses no value in Aramco's own announcement; Qatar Airways is FIFA's global airline partner to 2030 and Formula 1's global airline partner, with neither property disclosing what either is worth; Etihad's ten-year Manchester City agreement was reported at its 2011 announcement as undisclosed. Where a number exists it is usually because a sponsor published it — ROSHN put its title sponsorship of Saudi Arabia's top division at SAR 478 million over five years.
What does an influencer post cost?
This article does not say, and the reason is worth more than a number would be. There is no neutral survey of what Gulf influencers charge: every rate table in circulation is published by an agency selling influencer campaigns, with no disclosed sample and no method. A range copied from a seller's marketing page is not evidence.
The regulation is exact and primary. Cabinet Resolution No. 41 of 2025, issued 16 April 2025, sets the fee for an individual's permit to publish advertising content on social media at AED 1,000 to issue and AED 1,000 to renew; the National Media Authority's service page states it is free for three years and AED 1,000 thereafter, and a visiting non-resident pays AED 500 per three months. The permit became mandatory on 1 February 2026.
Cabinet Resolution No. 42 of 2025 carries the penalties: publishing advertising content without a permit, paid or unpaid, draws a written warning, then AED 20,000, then AED 50,000, doubling on repetition, and practising a media activity without a licence is AED 10,000 rising to AED 40,000 and closure.
What does it look like side by side?
Seven rows, in each source's own currency and period. Nothing is normalised: forcing a magazine insertion, a month of outdoor, a trade fair and a five-year sponsorship into one unit would invent precision none of them has.
| Channel | Published? | Cost | Whose figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magazine full page | Yes | USD 10,000 to USD 15,000; USD 30,000 for a back cover | Publishers' own rate cards |
| Newspaper full page, UAE | No | AED 15,000 to over AED 50,000 | A reseller's quoted range |
| Billboard, Sheikh Zayed Road, static | No | AED 700,000 to AED 1m a month | AGBI, January 2025 |
| Digital landmark, Sheikh Zayed Road | No | AED 1.8m to AED 2.5m a month, estimated | AGBI, January 2025 |
| Trade-fair stand, 9 m², Gulfood 2026 | Via a national pavilion | USD 11,680, a subsidised member rate | SUSTA listing |
| League title sponsorship, Saudi top division | Disclosed by sponsor | SAR 478 million over five years | ROSHN release, 2022 |
| GulfThrone position, no term | Yes, on the page | From $10,000, and the live figure to pass each brand | This site's board |
Not equivalent evidence: some rows are rate cards, some reported market rates, some intermediaries' estimates, and the last column says which. Currencies and periods are each source's own and are not converted or normalised. No row carries an audited audience figure, so none of this is cost per unit of attention. Influencer rates are omitted — no source met the standard applied to the others.
What does the table actually show?
That transparency varies more than price does. The three orders of magnitude between the cheapest and dearest rows are unremarkable — different products, different reasons. What is remarkable is that you can read a magazine's price without speaking to anybody, cannot read a billboard's at all, and in most Gulf sponsorship cannot read it even after the deal is announced.
The defence is not weak — outdoor prices move with availability, season, production and the face itself — but its cost is that a buyer cannot compare two vendors before contacting either, nor tell afterwards whether they paid what anybody else paid.
That is the market this board was built in, and its one line here is narrow. GulfThrone publishes every seat's price on the page, including unsold seats, and what each advertiser paid afterwards in a permanent record. Its audience is smaller than any other row by orders of magnitude — and it is the only row where price and buyer are both public, before and after.
